We are delighted to inform you that in reference to the International Mother Language Day (21st Feb, 2020) which is celebrated to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism, JILS blog team is planning a one of its kind initiative. We shall be publishing Legal Blogs in various vernacular languages of our country.
For long, legal education in this country has been limited in its scope and reach to the English Language and the English speaking populace. This has to change for the broader objective of making legal knowledge and education more inclusive and accessible. As a small step in this direction, JILS Blog will be publishing a series of vernacular blogs starting from February 21st, 2020.
We hereby invite contributions for legal blogs in any vernacular language that you feel you are proficient to write in.
Additionally, we request those interested in volunteering for editing work in any specific vernacular language to send in an application with your name, interested language(s), contact number and any past work(if any) in any vernacular language.
We hasten to add that volunteering for editing work does not preclude you from making contributions under this initiative.
The deadline for sending in the contributions as well as applications for volunteering is 2nd February, 2020. Further, both applications for editing as well as contributions under this initiative should be sent to jilsvernacular@gmail.com and not our normal mail, jils@nujs.edu.
We have all in various instances in our law school life criticized or regretted the stronghold exercised by English Language on our education. We can break this only with small steps such as these. Therefore, we remain confident of a very positive response!
